Hygge, in the traditional sense, is the Danish concept of well-being, congeniality, and togetherness. While true Hygge can be achieved any time of year, the piece Hygge was written to evoke feelings of warmth and comfort amidst a wintry landscape. Pitched percussion and celesta set the tone with glistening, icy, “music box” bookends, while the winds and strings provide a warm, knit blanket to curl up in.
